Part social commentary, part body object, our design mitigates the increasing withdrawal of contemporary society into the digital realm by problemitizing the over abundance of data, and consequently by forcing a physical inter-action when data consumption reaches a critical level. By creating a direct link between the wearers data consumption and the amount of air pressure within their inflatable jacket, the smart phone becomes the valve that controls the airflow inward. If the wearer loses control of their data consumption so to do they lose control of their device through the pressurization of their jacket. The only way to reconnect with their device is for another human to penetrate their jacket in a hug like maneuver, releasing their air valves and reverting their state to that of a normal individual.

This board is a pyGestalt node with an onboard stepper motor driver to control each axis. You can find the schematics, board, code, and BOM here. Each node will represent its own axis, identified in your virtual machine. You can see an example virtual machinehere. You can build your own software interface to talk to the virtual machine, for example from a web browser, or perhaps streaming coordinates from a spreadsheet or Grasshopper within Rhino 3D.
