Alex and I built a jacket that holds a cell phone and monitors its data usage. Part social commentary, part body object, our design forces a physical intervention when the wearer's data consumption reaches a critical level. The creation of the pneumatic restraint spurred a novel method of inflatable fabrication and the development of a CNC Heatsealer.
Custom constant heat rotary heat sealer created and used on a Shotbot Router. The sealer was used to create air/water tight seals between multiple layers of thermoplastic. The wheel is mounted slightly behind center of spindle rotation and utilizes the spindle bearings for rotation, acting essentially like a drag knife.
